Fresher – cum – Farewell Party at College of Fisheries, VET VARSITY, Ludhiana

September 5 Expiring at: May 10

A welcome – cum – farewell function was organized by the Students of College of Fisheries, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana for the fresher’s and outgoing Undergraduate (B.F.Sc.) & Post-graduate (M.F.Sc.) students. Dr. (Mrs.) Asha Dhawan, Dean, College of Fisheries, GADVASU was the chief guest and Dr. Kamaldeeep Kaur, Former Dean of the College was the Guest of Honour of the function.

The function was inaugurated with the shabad recitation by the students. Various games, competitions and musical events added fun and frolic to the function. Ms. Gulgul Singh and Mr. Hanish were crowned Ms. Fresher and Mr. Fresher, respectively on the basis of personality judgment by a panel of judges. For the year 2011-12, Ms. Priya Rawat, Ms. Sarbjit Kaur, Ms. Rajinder Kaur and Mr. Deepjot singh got award for highest percentage average and Ms. Gunwant Kaur, Ms. Amardeep Kaur, Ms. Poonam Rani and Mr. Deepjot Singh for highest attendance for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year, respectively. To encourage the students, special cash prize of Rs. 1000/- each was given by Dr. Asha Dhawan, to the students of all batches having highest attendance and highest OCPA. Prizes and certificates also distributed to the students for achieving positions in academics, sports, NSS and extra-curricular activities at university and inter-university level.

While addressing the gathering, Dr. Asha Dhawan, Dean of the College congratulated the first outgoing batch of B.F.Sc. students for completing their degrees. She also lauded the national level achievements of two M.F.Sc. (Mr. Vikas Phulia and Ms. Neha Saxena) and one B.F.Sc. (Mr. Khushvir Singh) student of the College for their admission in Ph.D. and M.F.Sc. in one of the prestigious ICAR Institute (Central Institute of Fisheries Education - CIFE) at Mumbai through all India entrance examination. New entrants in B.F.Sc. and M.F.Sc. (Aquaculture) programme were welcomed by the Dean with the words of encouragement to excel in the field of Fisheries as an outstanding skilled human resource.  She also encouraged the students to participate in various co curricular activities and maintain proper discipline at College and University campus.
