Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organised a three day refresher training course on preparation of balanced and quality animal feed. The training course was organised under the aegis of Punjab Dairy Development Board and GADVASU.
Dr. V.K Taneja vice chancellor of GADVASU was the chief guest of the inaugural session. Dr. O.S Parmar Director of Extension Education GADVASU Presided over the function .In the inaugural address Dr. Taneja revealed that this training was dire need for the animal feed producer as the dairy business is flourishing very speedily owing to the stagnation in agriculture. He said that the main expenditure on dairy farming is of cattle feed so it is very important that we should make feed with economical means without compromising quality. The all new technological developments and issues related with new research should be in the focus. The main concern is the health of animal to produce quality milk and other products, he added. Dr. Parmar said that a feed Manufacturer must know about the a b c rather a to z of manufacturing technology including quality of food ingredients ,storage ,ration formation, standard set up of plant, machinery maintenance and unconventional feed stuffs. He further added that in the training all these aspects will be discussed. Jaswinder Singh Mann Jt.CEO Pb.Dairy Dev.Bd. said that for the renewal of license of feed manufacturers after three years this training will be mandatory for all. Dr. R.S. Sahota Prof. of Veterinary & Extension Education Department welcomed the trainees & dignitaries. Dr. M.P.S. Bakshi, Head dept. of Animal Nutrition gave the votes of thanks & assured the participants to provide the latest know how of feed manufacturing technologies to them.
In the inaugural session a compendium of the articles of experts edited by Dr. H.K Verma, Dr. Parminder Singh& Dr. Jaswinder Singh was released by VC, GADVASU.
Dr. Parminder Singh the course coordinator revealed that a total number of 23 feed millers registered them self for the training.
