Dr H.K. Verma, Director Extension Education GADVASU and Dr. R.S. Sahota, Former Director Extension Education GADVASU were honored with Life Time Achievement Award for their meritorious services towards livestock extension and commitment towards farming community at 2nd National Conference of “Society for Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension (SVAHE)” organized by Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu, J&K . A team of faculty members and Post graduate students from the Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana participated in this National Conference organized on theme “Technological Interventions for Sustainable Livestock Production”.
In this conference, Dr Verma shared GADVASU extension model with the scientific fraternity from different parts of the country which was very much appreciated by all participants. Dr. P.S. Tanwar (Associate Director, KVK Barnala) received Mid Carrier Award for their contribution in livestock extension services for more than 20 years; Dr. Jaswinder Singh Assistant Professor received “Budding Extensionist Award”. The life time achievement award mid carrier award and budding extensionist award were presented by Er. Abdul Ghani Kohli, Hon’ble Minister for Animal/Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, J&K Govt during the inaugural ceremony of the conference. The paper of Dr Aparna, In-service PhD scholar at the department was adjudged for Farmer-led-Extension Award. Other team members Dr. Rajesh Kasrija, Dr. Y.S. Jadoun, Dr. Khushpreet Singh, Dr. Arunbir Singh and Dr Madhu Shelly got best oral presentation awards and poster made by Dr. Bilawal Singh, Dr. Ravdeep Singh, Dr. Deepak Gangil, Dr. Sumanpreet Kaur on various aspect of livestock farming won Best poster presentation awards. Extension experts from different arena shared their modus operandi on strengthening of livestock extension, Role of ICT, Indigenous knowledge and success stories of livestock farmers.
Dr H.K. Verma informed that this society is a brain child of GADVASU and was created and registered during 2006 with the aim to bring the livestock extension people across the countries on a platform to provide the much need impetus to livestock extension. Dr. A.S. Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of the university congratulated and appreciated the efforts of the faculty members and students of the department for the series of awards.
