Faculty and Post graduate students from the department of Veterinary Medicine, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana participated in 35th Annual Convention of Indian Society for Veterinary Medicine (ISVM) & 
National Symposium. The convention was on “Innovative techniques, Emerging Issues and Advancement in Veterinary Medicine to meet the challenges: Present and the Future” organised by Department of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Tirunelveli (Tamilnadu). Dr S.N.S. Randhawa, Research Advisor GADVASU and the President of ISVM led the team. In this conference, department has bagged three research presentation awards namely. Best oral presentation award for "Diagnosis of Nasal polyps in horses" to Drs. Rajdeep Brar, Swaran Singh, Charanjit Singh, A.K. Sharma, N.K. Sood, B.K. Bansal, S.K. Uppal, S.N.S. Randhawa and Asmita Narang. Third Best oral presentation award for "Comparison of tracheal wash cytology, microbiology and PCR assay for the diagnosis of tuberculosis in cattle" to Drs. Asmita Narang, Charanjit Singh, N.K. Sood, A.K. Sharma, G. Filia, S.T. Singh, B.K. Bansal and S.N.S. Randhawa. Another hird Best oral presentation award for "A rare case of Spleenic abscess with local peritonitis in a Murrah buffalo" to Drs. Swaran Singh, Neetu Saini, Gurpreet Singh, Reetu Verma and S.K. Uppal.
Dr. B.K. Bansal, Director, Livestock Farms and Dr. D.K. Gupta, Assistant Scientist, Veterinary Medicine were honored with ISVM appreciation awards whereas Ms Asmita Narang, a PhD student, won the ISVM Merit award for Best Post Graduate Research plan. Dr S.N.S. Randhawa also chaired the thematic session in which key presentation was by Dr. Urs Giger, Professor of Medicine, Director of Metabolic Genetics Screening Laboratory, Department of Clinical Studies, Philadelphia School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.
Faculty members presented key note lectures in various sessions. Dr. S.K. Uppal, Head, Veterinary Medicine presented a detailed account of forestomach disorders in ruminants. Dr. Kirti Dua, Incharge Wildlife centre & Professor, Veterinary Medicine apprised the audience about hydrofluorosis a concern for both animals and public health. Dr. B.K. Bansal, Director, Livestock Farms gave a presentation on the zoonotic aspects of various diseases. Dr Swaran Randhawa, Professor, Veterinary Medicine made a comprehensive presentation on cattle lameness, a major problem in high producing animals.
