Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana’s Krishi Vigyan Kendar at Barnala has organised a one day “Kisan Sammelan-2017”. Dr. Rajbir Singh, Director, ICAR- Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute(ATARI), Zone-I, Ludhiana and Dr. H. K. Verma, Director of Extension Education, GADVASU, Ludhiana, inaugurated and presided the programme. On this occasion two skill development training one on ‘Artificial insemination Technician” for rural youth under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikash Yojna (PMKVY) of 45 days and another training on Tailoring and stitching’ for farm women of one month duration were also inaugurated by Chief Guest. Dr H.K.Verma urged the farmers to take benefit of services provided by GADVASU Ludhiana and by KVK, Barnala for the farming community for improvement of their livelihood. He also revealed that value addition of milk, meat and agriculture produce are the potential methods of higher income and self employment.
Dr. Rajbir Singh said that the KVK, Barnala is playing vital role in livestock development in district. He told that artificial insemination technician training will be helpful for self-employment of rural youth. Dr. Singh also motivated the farm women to come forward and work on empowerment of women by getting skill based training.
Dr. P. S. Tanwar, Associate Director, KVK, Barnala present a brief note on activities of KVK and emphasized to adopt the scientific techniques in crop production and rearing the livestock. He also stated that KVK is providing vocational trainings to the farmers, farm women and rural youth for self-employment in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry. Dr. Rajbir Singh and Dr. H. K. Verma visited at KVK instructional farm and inspected the different variety of Mustard, wheat and vegetable crops grown. They also emphasised to develop integrated farming system model on the principle of “learning by seeing and believing by seeing”. Dr. Rajbir Singh and Dr. H.K Verma appreciated the work performed by KVK. They also visited village Upali for integrated fish cum Pig model farm of Mr. Sukhminder Singh and and B.T. Pig farm of Mr. Dharminder Singh at village Sanghera. Dr. Kamaldeep Singh Matharu, Mr. Khushvir Singh, Dr. Suryender Singh, Dr. Harjot Singh Sohi Dr. Surinder Singh and Dr. Anjuly Sharma delivered lectures on different topics of agriculture and livestock. A large number rural youth, farmers and farm women were participated in this event.
