Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Handiaya (Barnala) of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and animal Sciences University, Ludhiana conducted a five days vocational training programme for farm women on Value addition of fruit and Vegetables. A total 25 farm women were trained in this training programme. Dr. Prahalad Singh Tanwar , Associate Director, KVK, Barnala, inaugurate the training and addressed farm women , he elaborated the importance of value addition of fruits and vegetables in order to establish small enterprise at household level by forming self help group . He also advised them to take benefit of various developmental schemes related to farm and farm enterprises, especially for SC farmers to raise their socio-economic level. Dr. Anjuly Sharma, Assistant Professor (Home Science) gave practical training to the farm women and prepared different types of products from seasonal vegetables and fruits. Farm women were trained in making pickles, jams, tomato sauce and murrabas. The trainees were highly satisfied and showed their willingness to start value addition of the products. They appreciated the efforts made by KVK to provide such type of training and desired to conduct trainings in future also.
