Agriculture and allied sectors contribute significantly to rural prosperity of the state. For further strengthening 
agriculture and allied sectors in the state, there is need to create interest in youth towards agricultural education and create awareness in them about various facets of agriculture and allied subjects. With this purpose ‘Agricultural Education day’ was celebrated at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana by inviting more than 60 students from of Partap Public School and Guru Ram Das Academy Ludhiana. During celebrations, students were delivered a lecture by Dr H K Verma, Director Extension Education about functioning of the university, courses being offered, admission process and scope of job after graduation.
Dr P S Brar, Dean, College of Veterinary Science in his address highlighted the importance and significance to celebrate the day which is birthday of Dr Rajinder 
Prasad, the first Union Minister of Agriculture and First President of Independent India. He emphasized on diversification of the agriculture and role, which students can play by choosing veterinary and allied sciences as professional career. He said that to inform about agricultural education is more important in the country like India where 70% of rural folks have a strong acquaintance with agriculture. School students put up their views about Indian agriculture, and emphasized on need to hold such interaction of school kids with scientists. Students visited NCC unit, Fisheries complex and veterinary clinics and had interactions with the scientists and farmers. The occasion was also graced by Dean College of Fisheries Dr Asha Dhawan, Dr CK Singh, Dr P N Diwedi, DR T S Rai and Dr A P S Brar sports in-charge of university.
