Dr Naresh Kumar Sood, Senior Veterinary Pathologist and In-charge, Centralized Diagnostic Laboratory, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana along with three post graduate students of the Department of Veterinary Pathology participated in the 33rd Annual Conference of Indian Association of Veterinary Pathologists and 7th Annual Meeting of Indian College of Veterinary Pathologists and National Symposium. Conference was based on 'Innovative Approaches for Diagnosis and Control of Emerging and Re-emerging Diseases of Livestock, Poultry and Fish' organized at Chhattisgarh Kamdhenu Vishwavidyalaya, Anjora, Durg, Chhattisgarh, India. Preceding the conference, Dr. Naresh Kumar Sood and Bhupinder Singh Sandhu were elected as Vice President and Executive Member of the Indian Association of Veterinary Pathologists, respectively. Dr. Naresh Kumar Sood also presented a lead paper on an underexplored area ‘Urinary Cytopathology-An Underutilized Diagnostic Aid in Veterinary Practice’ co-authored by Drs. BS Sandhu, Kuldip Gupta and APS Brar and also chaired the important ‘Molecular Pathology and Oncology’ session.
During the symposium, Dr. Omer Khalil Baba bagged the prestigious Prof. (Dr.) S. Ramachandran Memorial “Molecular Oncology” Award for the research work entitled ‘Detection of Novel Biomarkers of Canine Mammary Neoplasia Using Minimally Invasive Methods’ co-authored by Drs. Naresh Kumar Sood, Kuldip Gupta and Deepti Narang. The award winning research paper is the part of the research work on ‘Canine Mammary Tumour as a Model for Human Breast Cancer’, which is in progress. The Project is continuing at GADVASU and for this pioneering work, Dr. Naresh Kumar Sood previously received the rare distinction of having been invited as a guest speaker on the subject ‘Comparative Mammary Oncology’ at the Global Cancer Summit at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
During the Durg meet, the research article entitled ‘Immunohistochemical characterization of bovine tuberculous granuloma’ authored by Drs. Langnyei L. Phom, Geeta D. Leishangthem, K. Gupta and Amarjit Singh received Dr C.M Singh memorial best research article award published in the Indian Journal Of Veterinary Pathology. Two posters were also presented by Ph D scholars of the department Dr. Laltlankimi and Dr. Monika Thakur in this conclave.
