The Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) concluded the 29th advanced training course on “Diagnostic Imaging and Minimally Invasive Surgical Techniques for Veterinary Patients” from 5-25 October 2016. This training program was sponsored by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.
Dr. Jitender Mohindroo, Director of this training and Professor-cum-Head informed that this was 29th such training organized by the department. Twenty four Scientists/faculty from various Veterinary Institutes from across the country representing eleven states and 17 institutions participated in the training. The participants were trained on various diagnostic imaging techniques and minimally invasive surgical procedures like endoscopy, C-Arm guided procedures, biological osteosynthesis, Doppler ultrasonography, echocardiography, cataract surgery by phacoemulsification and intra ocular lens implantation. Dr Vandana Sangwan Coordinator of the training program informed that this training was practically oriented and the trainees had a chance to participate in various advanced diagnostic and surgical procedures during the 21 days. Experts from Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh were invited to deliver lectures and demonstrations to the trainees she added.
Dr. HK Verma, Director Extension Education, GADVASU, who was the guest of honour during the concluding function, said that this training would go a long way in developing farmer friendly research at various institutes in India. Dr. Simrat Sagar Singh, Coordinator of this training program and Dean Postgraduate Studies lauded the efforts made by the department in organising the training program and congratulated the faculty and participants on successful completion of the training programme. Dr Singh said that such training programs are necessary for upgrading the skills of the faculty and encouraged the trainees and the faculty to regularly participate in such skill upgradation programs. GADVASU is dedicated to Human Resource Development and is regularly deputing its faculty to foreign institutes for getting specialized trainings on various aspects he added.
