A plantation drive was conducted today under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana to raise awareness about the importance of tree planting as a way of gratitude to Mother Earth. This drive was initiated during the Annual Zonal Workshop of KVK of Zone-1 (Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh)
The drive was inaugurated by Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Chairman, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board, New Delhi, Dr. U.S. Gautam, DDG (Agril. Extension), New Delhi and Dr. Parvender Sheoran, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone – 1, Ludhiana highlighted the need for collective action in safeguarding the environment. Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Vice-Chancellor emphasised that this campaign is not just about planting trees; it is about nurturing life and ensuring a greener future for the next generations.
The plantation drive was held in the august presence of dignitaries and Officers of the University. Dr. P.S. Brar, Director Students Welfare cum Estate Officer, informed that in this drive around 250 saplings will be planted and an emphasis on planting native species of trees will be given to support the local ecosystem and biodiversity. He congratulated the Landscaping Wing of the university for their ongoing efforts in this campaign.
