Vet Varsity observes Anti-Ragging Day with Awareness Campaign

In observance of Anti-Ragging Day, the College of Dairy and Food Science Technology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized a comprehensive Anti-Ragging Campaign to raise awareness and foster a ragging-free campus environment. The event included a series of engaging activities aimed at educating students about the detrimental effects of ragging and the importance of mutual respect within the university community. Informative sessions were held where faculty members discussed the legal ramifications of ragging and the support systems available to students who may face such issues.
Dr. R S Sethi, Dean of the college, addressed the newly admitted BTech Dairy Technology and BTech Food Science Technology students , emphasizing the university's strict anti-ragging policies and the collective responsibility of students and faculty to uphold a culture of safety and inclusivity. He encouraged students to support their peers and to be vigilant, ensuring that no one falls victim to such behavior. To further promote the anti-ragging message, students took a pledge affirming their resolve to keep their college ragging-free and foster the spirit of fraternity and harmony.
Dr. Gopika Talwar, Chairperson, College anti ragging committee apprised the students about college’s zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and encouraged students to report any incidents through anonymous helplines numbers or inform the same to the dedicated anti ragging squad. She informed that the college is going to celebrate Anti-Ragging week with a series of events aimed at fostering a ragging-free environment on campus. The campaign would involve essay writing and poster making competitions as well as interactive sessions, where students will be educated on the legal consequences of ragging, the importance of respecting others, and the role of bystanders in preventing such incidents. The campaign was well-received, with students who actively participated in discussions and pledged to uphold the values of respect and kindness within the college community.
