The College of Animal Biotechnology of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University organized an international workshop. One-day workshop's theme was recent developments in stem cell research and bovine mammary gland biology. The event was organized under the extension activity of the Department of Biotechnology funded project on “Investigating the Role of Adipose Tissue-Derived Stromal Vascular Fractions (SVFs) Combined with Xanthosine in Veterinary Regenerative Medicine” to upgrade the knowledge of animal biotechnology of post-graduate students.
Dr J S Bedi, Director, Centre for One Health welcomed guest speakers, and the participants. He elaborated on the importance of the workshop in the field of stem. Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, urged participants to engage in fruitful discussions and collaborations. Dr HS Banga, Registrar and Dr. J P S Gill, Director of Research, emphasized the importance of such a workshop in encouraging young students and fostering collaborations between the institutions.
Dr. James Sherley from Asymmetrex®, LLC, introduced Kinetic Stem Cell (KCS) counting, a groundbreaking technology enabling accurate measurement of stem cell populations without protein markers, potentially expediting research and therapies. Dr. Feng Qi Zhao, a Professor at the University of Vermont, highlighted the role of glucose transport in milk production, emphasizing its importance for mammary gland health and milk quality optimization.
Dr. Ratan Kumar Choudhary informed that 104 registrations from 30 Indian universities with Vet Varsity's faculty members attended the workshop. Dr Balbir Bagicha Singh proposed the vote of thanks to all the officers, organizers, participants and sponsors.
