On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University named one of the buildings housing the Department of Parasitology in the College of Veterinary Science as “Dr. B.S. Gill Block” as a gesture of respect and recognition of outstanding academic
contributions made by him. Dr. Bakhsish Singh Gill, was a renowned veterinary parasitologist who served the College of Veterinary Science, Ludhiana for more than 14 Years.
Dr. B.S. Gill Block was inaugurated by the family of Dr. Gill, in the presence of Vice Chancellor, Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Dean, Directors, HoDs, faculty and students of the university. Dr. Inderjeet Singh congratulated the university faculty on teacher’s day and shared that Dr. Gill was a visionary academician with great passion for his students and institution, which brought great reforms to uplift the education standards in the university. He further emphasised that as teachers we play an important role in producing quality human resources, who can serve the nation towards self-reliance and prosperity.
Dr. Inderjeet also recalled the second President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and highlighted his historic impactful academic excellence due to which teachers’ day was celebrated every year on this birthday on 5th of September. The function concluded with Dr. Radhakrishnan’s saying that “Teachers should be the best minds in the country”, as they have to educate the youngest minds to build the nation.
