Dr Amandeep Sharma, Associate Professor (Dairy Engineering) of College of Dairy Science and Technology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana has been appointed as adjunct professor in Southern Illinois University (SIU), Carbondale, USA. Dr R.S. Sethi, Dean, College of Dairy Science and Technology elaborated that Dr Sharma will be jointly co-supervising post graduate students of Southern Illinois University for developing the predictive model for the prediction of shelf-life of yogurt. Dr Sharma has published 28 research publications and has developed a software for the prediction of quality parameters of paneer using artificial intelligence. He has completed about 8 research projects funded by the various agencies including MOFPI, NABARD and RKVY. He has worked in the field of application of solar energy for processing of milk into value added products and has developed technology of GADVASU milk chiller which was transferred to the industry. Recently he has undergone three months International Faculty Training under ICAR-NAHEP Institutional Development Programme at SIU, Carbondale, USA to predict the shelf life of yogurt using neural network technique of Artificial Intelligence.
Dr JPS Gill, Director of Research, GADVASU said that appointment of Dr Amandeep Sharma as adjunct faculty will be instrumental in strengthening the research collaborations with Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, USA. Dr Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU congratulated Dr Sharma for bringing laurel to the institute.
