Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tarn Taran celebrated Mahila Kisan Divas on 13.10.2017 at Munda Pind, District- Tarn Taran under the theme "Empower Yourself Financially vis-a-vis Nutritionally". Dr Balwinder Kumar, Deputy Director (Training) briefed about the importance of this day. With the empowering of women our nation can achieve new heights in many fields including agriculture. Mr. Gurdial Singh, Ex-Vice Chairman, Block Samiti, Chohla Sahib, District- Tarn Taran has inaugurated the programme. The event was coordinated by Piverjeet Kaur Dhillon, Assistant Professor, Home Science. During this programme, around 53 farm women have participated and interacted with KVK team. Ms. Dhillon shared the information on scenario of Women Empowerment in Punjab simultaneously discussed the role of Food and Nutrition in women's income generation. A model based on Zero waste Integrated Food Processing Unit was displayed by the Home Scientist. Nirmal Singh, gave a brief overview of training facilities for farm women provided by the KVK. Besides these, Group discussion cum debate on establishment of entrepreneurship through promotion of nutritional aspect of food was conducted by Dr. Bhanu Prakash. The scientists also interacted with potential entrepreneurs and answered their queries regarding the setting up of a new venture. Gurdial Singh motivated the farm women to grow their entrepreneurs through learning from the scientists. KVK scientists assured farm women for providing information related to skill development in food processing and value addition for better earning and livelihood. The scientists honored the progressive farm women named Charanjeet Kaur for her contributions to promote small scale agricultural allied sectors. Gurdial Singh was also appraised for selfless motivation to flourish the women participation in income generation.
