The Centre for One Health of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana organized a two days’ workshop on Hygiene Practices at Workplace in order to sensitize the laboratory staff from various department of the University to adopt the better occupational health practices. Dr. Jasbir Singh Bedi, Coordinator and Director, Centre for One Health welcomed the participants and provided an overview of the workshop. He highlighted the salient points which need to be taken care of at the workplace. Dr. Pankaj Dhaka, Organizer of the workshop delivered an orientation to the participants on the importance of personal hygiene, possible occupational hazards, and relevant prevention strategies at the workplace. Resource persons from GADVASU and PAU, Ludhiana also interacted with the participants on important topics like procedures for proper handling of waste at workplace, overview on chemical hazards and their prevention while working in laboratories, food safety and hygiene at workplace, proper methods and guidelines by which we can discard the waste of our laboratories and workplaces. The feedback of the participants were taken and Dr. Bedi assured to make such awareness programs on a routine basis for the University employees. Dr. L.D. Singla, Director, Human Resource Management Centre of GADVASU and his team appreciated the efforts of the Centre to successfully deliver this applied and informative workshop.
Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU, appreciated the efforts and congratulated the participants. Dr. Singh advised the participants to apply the learning outcomes in day to day activities at their workplace.
