College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul of Vet Varsity Signs MOU with Care India

College of Veterinary Science (COVS), Rampura Phul of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Care India, NGO to strengthen and to extend the outreach of the college to the remotest villages of Punjab. MOU was signed in the presence of Dr Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU and Mrs. Nidhi Bansal, Executive Director CARE India Solutions for Sustainable Development (CISSD), New Delhi.
Dr Manish Kumar Chatli, Dean of the college informed that the college is offering various courses/programs viz. Degree (B.V.Sc & A.H.), diploma in veterinary sciences and various certificate and short courses. COVS is also extending a host of services like training, research, consultancy, education, and extension i.e. organising animal health camps, training to farmers, publishing literature for the benefit of the farmers. CARE India is working in 19 states of India for livelihood sector programmes centre around smallholder farmers, women empowerment by providing knowledge and enhanced access to inputs, services, technologies and opportunities.
Dr Inderjeet Singh revealed that this association between the organization will boost the livestock sector in the area and work in symbiosis for the welfare of the marginalized and small farmers. He further emphasized that the college hospital has all the modern ‘state of the art’ facilities for diagnosis & treatment including ultrasound machines, X-ray machines, operation theaters, laboratories etc. So, he urged the farmers to utilize all the facilities of the college for their benefits. Dr Prakash Brar, Director Extension Education, GADVASU informed that GADVASU is demonstrating the modern practices to livestock rearing for the prevention of diseases and to reduce the cost of treatment. Dr JPS Gill, Director Research emphasized on the development of niche or region-based technologies to prevent common ailments viz. mineral disorders, parasitic and infectious diseases of dairy, poultry, goats and pigs. Dr. H.S. Banga, Registrar and Dr SK Uppal, Dean Post Graduate Studies accentuated that GADVASU has prime objective to increase the production and productivity of the livestock for the welfare of the farmers.
