Vet Varsity NSS volunteers take initiatives under

More than 100 National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University GADVASU took part in the Clean India Programme in commemoration with Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav under the initiative of Government of Punjab. Students painted the tree trunks covering a 2 KM area near Post-mortem Hall and Scientist Home. It was a first event under the clean India Programme from October 1 to 31, 2021, as per the guidelines received from Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, aiming to combat the growing threat from plastic pollution and for clean and green India.

The “Clean India Program" was flagged off at Scientist Home by Dr. Satyavan Rampal, Director Students Welfare cum Estate Officer, with a hope to make it a community activity and complemented the power of NSS volunteers and their dedication towards the community work that bring real transformation under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Nidhi Sharma, NSS Programme Coordinator, GADVASU said, "The key activities of the program would be collection of waste, mainly single use plastic waste, village/campus beautification drives and cleanliness and maintenance of traditional water sources."

NSS Officers Dr. C S Mukhopadhyay, College of Animal Biotechnology; Dr. Varinder Pal Singh, College of Dairy Technology, Dr. Sachin Khairnar, College of Fisheries coordinated and managed the event.
