NSS volunteers of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana (GADVASU) participated in Inter College Essay Writing competition to mark the celebrations of NSS Day. The competition aimed to give the students an opportunity to express their ideas on ‘Role of Youth in National Service Scheme.
The NSS volunteers were given a platform to pen-down the work they have been doing under NSS Programme on the social issues in the last one year.
The winners will be selected on the basis of understanding of the problem, finding a solution, feasibility of the idea suggested and writing skills.
The students from College of Fisheries, College of Dairy Science and Technology and College of Animal Biotechnology participated in the competition. The results of the competition will be announced on Gandhi Jayanti, when the NSS Volunteers would be participating in Cleanliness Drive in the Campus on October 1and 2, 2021.
Nidhi Sharma, NSS Programme Coordinator said, “every year on September 24, India celebrates National Service Scheme Day (NSS Day) and to mark this important day, more than 80 NSS volunteers participated in this essay writing competition expressing their views, ideas on role of youth in identifying problems in the community and finding practical solutions”.
Dr. Satyavan Rampal, Director Students’ Welfare-cum-Estate Officer informed that, “another 70 students from our Constituent College of Veterinary Science at Rampuraphull will be participating in essay writing competition on the same topic”.
NSS Programme Officers; Dr. Varinder Pal Singh from College of Dairy Science and Technology, Dr. C S Mukhopadhyay from College of Animal Biotechnology and Dr. Sachin Onkar Khairnar from College of Fisheries will be judging the winners of the essay writing competition.
