Vet Varsity launches Digital Repository for intellectual, research and multimedia property

Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana launched the Digital Repository of the University, developed for codifying the records of scientific outcome of the University. The repository developed by Dr. H.S. Banga, Registrar and Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Director of Research with technical assistance from Information Technology and Library professionals. It has been customized to retrieve articles as per NAAS Rating and Impact Factor, i. e. matrix required for compilation of reports of the University involving data about University publication(s). The multimedia contents encompassing radio and TV talks delivered by faculty of the University will also be preserved. The digital contents available on the repository will be accessible to fraternity of the University including faculty, students and researchers for better comprehension of the teaching and research activities. This would also be helpful to faculty to keep a record of their publications in digital mode and for better accessibility. Training programmes have been organized by the Directorate of Human Resource Management of the University to acquaint the faculty with digital content uploading on this portal. In addition, a manual for helping faculty and other stakeholders for uploading digital contents on repository has also been compiled and circulated in the University.

Dr. Singh shared that the Digital Repository would expedite the report writing and other administrative ventures involving use of data about faculty publications and their other activities. He further said that preserving multimedia contents and photographs of important events in digital and an organized form would be crucial to retrieve the testimonies of heritage of the University at any point of time in future. The Vice-Chancellor congratulated Dr. Banga, Dr. Gill, Dr. Nirmal Singh and Mr. Parminderdeep Singh Mangat for doing a commendable job of developing the repository of the University.
