On the occasion of World Environment Day, College of Fisheries (COF), Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), organized ‘Plantation Drive’ to commemorate environment’s unlimited services to the mankind. With the theme of ‘Ecosystem Restoration' the plantation drive was inaugurated by Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU with a message to protect the environment for maintaining its ecological balance to serve the future generations. He accentuated to enlighten the energetic youth with such events to provide a healing touch to the mother earth for a secure future.
Dr. Asha Dhawan, Former Dean, COF, GADVASU also graced the occasion with her essence of respect for nature and concerns for environmental destruction. Highlighting the fact that nature returns what it receives, Dr. Dhawan impressed to protect environment to save mankind from unforeseen volcanic repercussion. Officers of the university also participated in the event by planting one tree each to promote healthy environment for healthy living. Both indoor and outdoor plantation was carried out to create an eco-friendly aesthetic revitalizing working atmosphere. Faculty, supporting staff and students of COF also attended the event, abiding to COVID - pandemic guidelines. The landscaping wing of the estate office of the university played an instrumental role in executing the drive.

Applauding the efforts and contributions of faculty and staff in keeping the college campus green and clean, Dr. Meera D. Ansal, Dean, COF emphasized that every one shall take up some responsibility to conserve life on earth. Conveying her gratitude to Dr. Balareddy, Mr. Srinivas S T, Mr. Veeranagowda, Mr. Mahesh Shinde, Mr. Harishkumar and Mr. Kumarswamy, she acknowledged the Philanthropic funding received from these fishery professionals to support the present drive. The plantation drive, conceptualized by Dr. Shanthanagouda A.H. concluded with a message to ‘Go Green to Keep the Environment Clean’.
