Animal Health Worker Training Course Organized by KVK, Barnala

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Barnala of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized a 300 hours (38 days) duration training programme on Animal Health Worker sponsored Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), New Delhi under the guidance of Dr. Prahalad Singh Tanwar, Associate Director, KVK, Barnala. A total of 25 unemployed youth form different villages of Barnala District participated in this training those were willing for self-employment in field of animal health. Different aspects of animal health were discussed in this training such as identification and characteristics of different breeds of dairy animals, construction of proper and various sheds, balance feeding to different categories of animals, formation of balance ration by using local and cheaper ingredients, precautions need to consider to reduce the cost of milk production, artificial insemination, recording of body temperature, respiration and pulse rate. Maintain various records at dairy farm for better analysis to the farm. Importance of vaccination and deworming and their schedules. Type of different wounds and their dressing, care of animals during emergency and poisoning condition, disinfection of dairy sheds, control of different ectoparasites, various bacterial and viral diseases and their control. Various methods of controlling to the animals, reproductive problem and their management, fodder production round the year and silage making, proper disposal of dead animals etc. In this training Dr. R. S. Sahota, Ex DEE, GADVASU, Dr. H. S. Dhaliwal, Director PAMETI, Ludhiana, Dr. Yashwant Singh, Professor Veterinary College, Rampura Phul, Dr. Parminder Singh, Associate Director, KVK Mohali, Dr. Prateek Jindal, Assistant Professor (Livestock Production), KVK Barnala, Dr. Suryendra Singh, Assistant Professor (Agronomy), KVK Barnala delivered lectures. Practical was carried out at Goshala of village Handiaya. Trainees were provided first aid kit and literature prepared by GADVASU, Ludhiana. The assessment of the trainees was carried out by Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI), New Delhi.
