25 trainees of first batch of “Dairy Farmer/Entrepreneur” training programme at College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul (Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University) were assessed under Skill Development Programme, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal VikasYojana (PMKVY). It was sponsored by Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Agriculture Skill Council of India). Earlier, they successfully completed this 200 hours long training programme conducted in the Department of Livestock Production Management from 18th February to 18th March. Skills of dairy farming trainees were evaluated on the basis of assessment consisting of theory, practical and viva examinations conducted by assessor S. Rattan Singh, former Chief Manager, PNB and Proctor Mr. Chander Parkash. Assessment was conducted by following all the Covid-19 guidelines. Farmers were found well versed with different aspects of dairy farming including selection of good quality dairy animals, sound breeding strategies, shelter, feeding, reproduction, healthcare along with processing of milk for value addition inculcating entrepreneurship skills. In this training program, trainees were provided skills from technical experts of various institutions i.e. College of Veterinary Science, GADVASU, Ludhiana; College of Dairy Science, Ludhiana; ICAR-ATARI Zone-1; Bank; Virka Chilling Center, Rampura Phul including staff from COVS, Rampura Phul. Dr. Manish Kumar Chatli, Dean, COVS, Rampura Phul and Director of training programme congratulated all the trainees for their active participation in this training program. Dr. Yashwant Singh, Coordinator of training program informed that exposure visit to Dairy farm, College of Dairy Science & Technology GADVASU , Verka Chilling Plant, Phul were organized and they were also provided with scientific literature and kits related to dairy farming free of cost. Event was also attended by Dr. Amit Sharma and Dr. Sandeep Kaswan, Co-coordinators of the training program along with Dr. Anand Parkash and Dr. Parag Acharya as Technical coordinators of programme. Dr. P.S. Brar, Director of Extension Education, GADVASU and Dr. Rajbir Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone-1, Ludhiana praised the associated staff of College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul for conducting first successful training program in an efficient manner.
