College of Animal Biotechnology (CoABT), GADVASU has organized a series of expert lectures and training programmes to prepare students for National/International competitions under ICAR scheme on “Strengthening and Development of Higher Education in India”. Dr Y S Malik, Dean of the College, in his inaugural talk emphasized on the importance of artificial Intelligence in day-to-day life and especially in animal health management. He stressed that trainings in the upcoming areas will help the students to learn about forthcoming challenges and how to overcome them. COABT is giving exposure to students to become self-sufficient and ready to match the expectations of market. Professor NK Rakha, from IIT Ropar deliberated talks about the artificial intelligence in animal health, carrier opportunities in biological sciences, and ABCD of Happiness. Further, college students were given training on the online tools to access resources of library where Ms Sonia, Assistant Librarian, GADVASU, apprised students about different protocols easing the search of researchers. The guest speaker, Mrs Aruna T Kumar, Former Editor of Indian journal of Animal Science, ICAR trained the students on writing skill and to match the standards of high impact journals. She guided students for witting scientific and popular articles for different target audiences. Dr. Harpreet Singh, PRO, GADVASU talked with the students on stress management and communication skills for entrepreneurship development. Dr R. S. Sethi, Prof. & Head informed that college is regularly organizing both online and offline training programmes for the students to keep them updated. In this series of training programmes Dr Y S Malik and Dr R S Sethi presided over the valedictory function. Trainees very warmly participated and appreciated the efforts of COABT. At the end, Dr Simrinder Singh Sodhi, Coordinator of training programmes proposed the vote of thanks, acknowledged the authorities for organizing such training programmes and informed that to improve and cultivate innovative skills among the students, COABT is working extensively
