Veterinary University students brought national laurels to Varsity

The postgraduate girl students from Department of Livestock Products Technology, College of Veterinary Science, Guru Angad

Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana achieved different awards at XVI National Conference (online) on “Sustainable Contribution of ATMANIRBHAR Women Veterinarians in Enrichment of Production Potential in Livestock through Application of Modern Technologies” organized by College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Parbhani, MAFSU, Nagpur and Indian Association of Women Veterinarian.

Dr. Jyoti, Ph.D. scholar of the department was conferred with “Young Scientist Award” for her research work on meat authentication. Dr Apeksha Jangir, M.V.Sc. scholar won “Best Poster Award” for her research work on “Development of low fat functional pork nuggets” carried out under the guidance of Dr. Om Prakash Malav. Dr Deepika Jamadar, M.V.Sc. student won the 2nd prize in oral presentation for the research work on “Meat and Egg based pasta products” under the guidance of Dr. Rajesh V. Wagh.

Dr Nariinder Singh Sharma, Head of the Department applauded the efforts of students and faculty members for this feat. He also added that the said recognition at national level will certainly impel the department team to work more meticulously to earn scientific stature of international repute. Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University complimented the winners for their achievement with a message that women scientists plays very crucial role in uplifting the animal husbandry research, innovation and offering sustainability to livestock sector for enhanced food security and safety.

Congratulating the awardees, Dr SPS Ghuman, Dean of College, Dr JPS Gill, Director Research and Dr SK Uppal, Dean, Post Graduate Studies cheered the scientific fraternity of the university dedicated to innovative applied research for uplifting the animal food processing sectors and increasing the income of farmers and budding entrepreneurs. They further stressed that the Department of LPT has continued their efforts to bring laurels to the university at various platforms.
