Vet Varsity organizes International Webinar on “Future Perspectives of Dairy Technologists”

An International webinar on “Future Perspectives of Dairy Technologists” was organized by Alumni Association, College of Dairy Science and Technology (CODST), Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana under the leadership of Dr Sanjeev Kumar Uppal, Dean, CODST and Dr Parkash Singh Brar, Dean, College of Veterinary Science and Principal Investigator of ICAR-NAHEP Institutional Development Plan (IDP). The purpose of the webinar was to make the dairy technology students familiar with the various academic and employment opportunities available in India as well as abroad. Around 90 under graduate students from CODST actively participated in the webinar.

Akashdeep Singh Beniwal, Alumnus of CODST and presently Ph.D Scholar in Massey University, New Zealand delivered a wonderful lecture on academic and research opportunities available for the students in overseas institutions. He made the students familiar with the procedure, requirements and scholarships available while applying for higher studies in different foreign institutions. He also shared his success story and hurdles faced by him while getting admission at Massey University. He advised the students to take care of these things while applying abroad. He assured of his support to the students while searching the relevant stream, guide, institution and drafting of request letters.

Pritpal Singh, Alumnus of CODST and working as Deputy Manager, Milkfed, Mohali also delivered a lecture on academic and employment opportunities for the students in various institutions and industry in India. He highlighted various job opportunities for dairy graduates in dairy as well as allied industry like food industry, pharmaceuticals, ingredients, equipment manufacturing industry, where they can get employed in production, quality control as well as procurement and marketing. 

A  Valuable question answer session was held in which queries of students were resolved. The event was coordinated by Er. Gursharn Singh, Assistant Professor, President of the Alumni Association, CODST, Venus Bansal, Assistant Professor, General Secretary of the Alumni Association, CODST and Dr. Varinder Pal Singh, Assistant Professor and IDP team member.
