January 16

More than 120 volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS) of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) resolved to put in their best effort to preserve the environment besides ensuring the cleanliness in the varsity campus. Having registered for a week-long NSS Special Winter camp which was inaugurated here at university campus, the volunteers deliberated as to how every individual and the people surrounding them can contribute their bit in meeting the resolve.

Aimed at training students in preserving the environment and subsequently motivate  the society to develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility, the seven day camp was inaugurated by DSW-cum-EO, Dr. Satyavan Rampal. NSS volunteers from College of Fisheries, College of Veterinary Science, College of Dairy Science and Technology and College of Animal Biotechnology would be given hands-on exposure in execution of various processes and methods that could help them in addressing environmental concerns. “During the camp, we plan to develop a mini Rose Garden in Scientist Home which will not only be developed but also maintained by NSS volunteers in future. Apart from that, we would be conducting a Cyclothon to spread the message of channelising youth’s energy  for environmental protection on The weekend”, informed NSS Programme Coordinator Mrs. Nidhi Sharma.
