Dr. Ashok Kumar, Assistant Director General (ADG) (Animal Health), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), visited in the ongoing short training program at Guru Angad Dev veterinary and animal Science University. 
He was the Guest of Honour in the training on the subject of “Advances in Molecular Epidemiology in Veterinary Research” at School of Public Health and Zoonoses (SPHZ), which started on 10th December, 2019. The training is sponsored under the ‘’capacity building programme’’ of ICAR. In this program participants from 14 different states of India are participating to learn the recent advances in the field of molecular epidemiology. Dr. Jasbir Singh Bedi, Course Director, updated about the ongoing program schedule to ADG. While interacting with the participants of the program, Dr. Ashok Kumar congratulated the organizers for such initiative of capacity building programme. He motivated the participants to address the emerging issues that are being faced by livestock and livestock owners, at the same time promoting health of the farming community. He called upon the participants to work in collaboration to find resolve the major animal health related issues affecting our country. During the program along with him Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Director of Research, Dr. S.K. Uppal Dean Post Graduate 
Studies and Dr. R.S. Aulakh, Director, School of Public Health and Zoonosis released the compendium of the training programme. The participants in their feedback to the ADG said that the programme schedule was well planned and the course contents are highly informative and useful. Dr. R. S Aulakh expressed his gratitude to Dr. Ashok Kumar for his visit to encourage the participants.
