Vet Varsity organizes Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Program (SBSIP) under National Service Scheme

The College of Animal Biotechnology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University has initiated 20 days Swachh Bharat Summer Iternship program under the aegis of National Service Scheme (NSS). Dr. Satyavan Rampal, Director Students Welfare-cum Estate Officer, GADVASU inaugurated the internship program. He has informed that University is regularly participating in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiated by the Prime Minister’s Office. Dr. Rampal informed that 10 students of the University have been enrolled for the program. GADVASU has adopted village Barewal Awana of Ludhiana. Dr Satyavan added that the camp has been inaugurated by Mrs Kamal Preet Brar, IAS, Commissioner of Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana in the presence of Mr. Pankaj Kaka and Dr. Ramneek Verma, Director, College of Animal Biotechnology. Mrs Nidhi Sharma, welfare officer, GADVASU has informed that the students will devote 100 hours for the internship program. She has informed that Mr Pankaj Kaka, Councillor; Barewal Awana has been kind enough to lend a helping hand for the successful conduction of internship program.

Dr. CS Mukhopadhyay, NSS Nodal Officer of the College of Animal Biotechnology, has informed that the enrolled students for the current internship program will be working on upliftment and the advisement of socio-economic development of the residents. Dr. Mukhopadhyay informed that during this internship program students will be taking part in cleanliness of the area, door to door campaign, tree plantation, awareness drive through street-drama presentation and wall painting on water conservation, pollution control, garbage disposal, refusing disposal of plastic-bag etc. Besides, the internee will also drive awareness campaign on personal hygiene of females residing in the adopted village. The internees will also be visiting the local schools and interact with the students to sensitise them about cleanliness and Swachh Bharat Program. He added that the students will also be interacting with the livestock owners at the local Veterinary hospital of Barewal to aware them about the importance of zoonotic diseases and one-health concept. Dr. Ramneek has praised the enthusiasm shown by the internees and he wished them best of luck for the coming days.
