Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences, University, Booh, Tarn Taran organized a one day camp ‘Management of Farm animals during summer season’ at its Campus. More than Forty farmers belonging to different villages of district Tarn Taran has participated in the awareness Camp. Scientific knowledge on various aspects of Dairy Farming was devised in this training related to dairy farming management, clean milk production, feeding, artificial insemination related techniques, scientific breeding interventions and prevention & control of diseases due to thermal stress. Speaking in the inaugural session, Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Deputy Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tarn Taran provided a brief insight about working and mandates of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, and encouraged farmers to manage their dairy animals and farms scientifically especially during summer season. Dr. Kumar comprehensively discussed about use of well ventilated sheds, proper housing and shelter, water splashing and sprinkling techniques during summer season, feed, fodder and silage management for profitable dairy farming. He also highlighted various facilities developed and provided by GADVASU and KVK.
Dr Gurdeep Singh was looking after the farmer’s awareness camp for management of dairy animals during summer season and he discussed about the effect of environmental factors on production and reproduction of animals, thermal stress, diseases prevalent during summer season, concept of clean milk production and management aspects of dairy farming. The experts from GADVASU, Ludhiana Dr. Mandeep Singla also delivered experts talk and interacted with farmers regarding housing management practices, treatment & control of diseases and various facilities available at GADVASU for the upliftment of livestock sector in the state.
Dr. Gurdeep Singh proposed the vote of thanks at the valedictory function and thanked the farmers and visiting guest and faculty for the efforts to make this farmers awareness camp a success.
