5 days vocational training on “Dairy Farming for Rural Farm Women”

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) organized 5 days vocational training on “Dairy Farming” in collaboration with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Swaraj Division, Mohali at village Hulka. Forty five farm women were participated in this training. Dr. Yashwant Singh, Deputy Director, KVK, Mohali inaugurated the five days ‘Dairy Farming’ training programme and gave a detailed lecture on ‘Importance of dairy farming in Punjab, Balanced feeding, Importance of mineral mixture, Care and management of pregnant animal and Common Diseases of dairy animals, etc. He also motivated the trainees for entrepreneurship development in dairy farming. Dr. Shashi Pal, Assistant Professor (Livestock Production) encouraged rural farm women regarding dairy farming and their benefits for livelihood and income generation. Besides this, he also emphasized on comfortable housing, fodder preservation and record keeping. Dr. Priyanka Suryavanshi, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) delivered lecture on ‘Varieties of green fodder and its importance. Dr. Harmeet Kaur, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection) delivered her lecture on ‘Insect and pest control in green fodder’ for better fodder production. S. Harpreet singh, Dairy inspector (Dairy Training Centre, Chatamli) guided farm women and S. Darshan Singh delivered lecture on ‘value addition of milk’. Dr. Munish Sharma, Assistant Professor (Horticulture) discussed regarding ‘Post harvest management of vegetable leftover and incorporation in dairy animal feed and fodder’. Dr. Parul Gupta, Assistant Professor (Home Science) delivered lecture on ‘importance of dairy milk’. S. Rattan Singh, guided them about the activities of banks, different scheme available in bank and animal insurance. Mr. Vimal Srivastava, Ms. Akanksa, Ms. Mandeep, Ms. Sruti and Mr. Gurbachan Singh of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. actively participated and provided convenience to the experts. Farm women thanked the KVK faculty and staffs of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd and asked them to organize more such programmes for their skill development.
