April 17

“Those College years’, a fiction novel authored by Hoshiarpur based Veterinarian, Dr Rana Preet Gill was released today at Silver Jubilee Auditorium, College of Veterinary Science, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana.
Her debut novel tells the story of Rhea, a small-town girl, who gets admission in a prestigious Veterinary college in a big city. With no interest or inclination towards the subjects, she makes desperate efforts to increase her credit points every year. Her whimsical ways to rescue stray animals land her up in many troubles and awkward situations with the hostel warden and the residents.  She is a book hoarder and guards her treasure zealously keeping it locked all the time. Her dreams are grandiose and morph into magnanimous desires but she desists putting any real effort to accomplish them.
Dr. Satyavan Ram Pal, Director Student's Welfare, GADVASU, Dr. SPS, Sangha, former DSW, Dr. Aditya Sewak, Dr. Seema Bedi, Dr. Kirti Dua along with Dr. B.B. Singh released the book. A good number of teachers and students also joined the function.
On this occasion a renowned writer and former Professor PAU, Dr. S.N. Sewak sent the review of the book. In his note he revealed that it is purely a work of fiction. In this simple but interesting narrative which describes the college years of professional student who took to veterinary medicine not out of choice but only due to parental pressure. Her actions and reactions, joys and sorrows, experiences and accidents, expectations and achievements have been described quite naturally and very convincingly. It really provides an interesting reading for one and all. Her account never boring and the style is highly refreshing. She even experiments with the language.
After releasing the book Dr. Rana Preet Gill interacted with the audience and explained her experiences while writing this book.
Rana Preet Gill writes regularly and prominently in leading newspapers - Hindustan Times (Spice of Life), The Tribune and Daily Post. She also writes for Animal Husbandry Department magazine ‘Pashudhan Punjab’ as well.
