Dr. Simrat Sagar Singh, Dean Post Graduate Studies retires from the Vet Varsity

Dr. Simrat Sagar Singh, Dean Post Graduate Studies, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) retired from the University service after attaining the age of superannuation. He served in various capacities in PAU and GADVASU for a period of more than 34 years. He started his career in the Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, PAU and subsequently served the department as Associate Professor, Professor as well as Head, of the Department and Director Centre of Advanced Faculty Training in Veterinary Surgery and Radiology. After emancipation of GADVASU he served as Registrar, Dean College of Veterinary Science and Presently as Dean Post Graduate Studies.

A Veterinary Surgeon par excellence Dr. Singh significantly contributed in the field of Veterinary Surgery. He presented his research work in several national and international conferences in India and abroad. He has more than 115 publications to his credit and also large number of invited papers, lectures in national/international Journals and conferences. He did his PhD from university of Liverpool UK under Commonwealth Scholarship. He is a qualified veterinarian for North America. A decorated person with fellowship, and scholarships, he guided 7 Ph.D and 16 M.V.Sc. students. He has been instrumental in the planning and execution of small and large animal hospital and indoor clinical facilities. He was instrumental in introducing number of surgical techniques in animals at PAU/GADVASU which included interlocking nailing for long bone fractures, perineal and reproductive surgery in mares, colic surgery in horses, standing diaphragmatic herniorrhaphy in buffalo, management of epiphyseal fractures, surgical management of recurrent urolithiasis through urethrostomy, management of bovine foot lameness and many other surgical techniques.

Farewell function was arranged in the honour of Dr. Simrat Sagar Singh by Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Teachers’ Association (GADVASUTA). On this occasion Dr. A. S. Nanda, Vice-Chancellor, officers of the university, faculty members and non-teaching staff extended their warm wishes on his retirement.

His research, academic and administrative achievements were highly appreciated by Dr. Ashwani Sharma President, GADVASUTA.
