KrishiVigyan Kendra, Tarn Taran webcasted the Live Speech of Prime Minister of India Sh. Narender Modi Ji for famers at its Campus, Booh

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Booh, Tarn Taran webcasted the Live Speech of  Prime Minister of India, Sh. Narender Modi for famers at its Campus, Booh on 17.03.2018. About 203 farmers including the Sarpanch of three Panchayatshas participated in the programme and watched the live telecast of Prime Minister in Krishi Unnati Mela 2018 at IARI, New Delhi. At the beginning of the programme Dr Navjot S Brar, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) highlighted the main purpose of today’s get together at KVK. Dr Brar told that Prime Minister of India will address the farmers of the country through live telecast and webcast, so the KVK has also make arrangement for the same.Before the initiation of the live telecast KVK experts interacted with farmers and share their views with farmers. Dr Anil Kumar, Assistant Professor (Soil Science) told that Krishi Unnati Mela is organized every year at IARI Campus, New Delhi and is one of the biggest Agricultural fair in the country, where 600-700 stalls of different organizations are displayed and provide direct access to the latest technologies and Government initiatives. Dr Kumar told that demonstrations on micro irrigation, waste water utilization, terrace farming, integrated farming systems, protected cultivation, dairy farming, organic farming, rain water harvesting, etc. are displayed in the Krishi Unnati Mela at IARI. He also told that Prime Minister will also lay foundation stone of 25 new Krishi Vigyan Kendras. Dr Nirmal Singh, Assistant Professor (Horticulture), while interacting with farmers told that horticultural crops may play an important role in doubling farmers’ income. He also told that it is not possible to raise farmers’ income levels to double without adoption of allied activities like vegetable cultivation, dairy farming, mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, goat farming, etc. Dr Bhupinder Singh, ADO, Patti appealed the farmers for adoption of conservation agricultural practice and incorporation of crop residue in the soil to improve soil health status and crop yields. After that the live telecast of Krishi Unnati Mela 2018 was shown to the farmers. First of all, farmers listened the live address of  Agricultural Minister, GOI and then watched prize distribution ceremony, where different farmers and KVKs of the country were honored by Prime Minister. The Prime Minister laid the Foundation Stone for 25 Krishi Vigyan Kendras and also launched an e-marketing portal for organic products. While addressing to the farmers, PM said that Agricultural fairs play a key role in paving the way for New India. He said that farmers and scientists have to work together to transform agriculture.The Prime Minister emphasized on the importance of Farmer Producer Organizations and said that FPOs, would be given relief on income tax, on the lines of cooperative societies. The PM appreciated the efforts of Indian farmers for their achievements in agriculture. He said that we are very good in production of foodgrains, fruits and vegetables and milk, but have less idea about value addition of farm produce. We must think upon these lines. During their address PM also highlighted about Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, PradhanMantriKrishi Sinchai Yojana, Kisan Sampada Yojana, Minimum support Price of crops, etc. and stressed on Organic Revolution, Water Revolution and Blue Revolution. He said the Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) may play a key role in this regard. The KVK experts Piverjeet Kaur and Bhanu Prakash also put their efforts in displaying the technology and literature of the University in exhibition stall. Dr Navjot Singh, thanked all the farmers, farm women and officials their participation and making this programme a success.
