Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Booh, Tarn Taran systematized ‘Scientific Advisory Committee’ meeting on December 21, 2017 at KVK campus to discuss the current progress report, future action plan and other major activities of KVK so as to strengthen the existing KVK mandate. The meeting was chaired by Dr Harish Kumar Verma, Director of Extension, GADVASU, Ludhiana. Dr. Partap Singh Sandhu, Chief Agriculture Officer, Tarn Taran also graced the occasion. The meeting was started with welcome address by Dr. Balwinder Kumar, Deputy Director (Training) KVK Tarn Taran. At the inaugural address, Dr. Verma enlightened the house about the various activities and attainments of KVK, Tarn Taran operational under Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. A short motion clipping presenting the journey of KVK, Tarn Taran was screened. Total 31 dignitaries from various line departments and progressive farmers participated in this meeting. Rekha Rani (Farm Women, Harike, Tarn Taran), Sh. Harchand Singh (Progressive Farmer, Mari Kamboke, Tarn Taran), Sh. Sewak Singh (Farmer, Vill. Madder Mathur Bhagi, Tarn Taran) and KVK scientists participated in the meeting. KVK exhibited their developed literature in order to get the participants inclined with the scientific practices. Dr. Balwinder Kumar presented the progress report for the year
2016-17 and expressed the triumph while explaining about the actions taken during the bygone spell. He further discussed about the proposed action plan for the year 2018-19 and urged to the members for their valuable suggestions for the finalization of it for improving the functioning of KVK for the benefit of farming community. Dr. Verma appealed the house to come forward with the innovative ideas in regard to their respective fields for incorporating in future plan of KVK. Simultaneously, after critical analysis, on the spot advisory for the general hurdles faced by the stakeholders related to agriculture and livestock was also provided by the Chair Person. During the farmer scientist interaction, farmers submitted that KVK Tarn Taran is helping them a lot for solving their problems related to agriculture and livestock. Dr. HK Verma in his concluding remark assured the house to include their valuable suggestions in the future action plan as per the mandate of KVK/GADVASU/ICAR. Dr. Verma also motivated the KVK scientists for selfless working for the welfare and betterment of the farming community in this critical scenario. To sum up the programme, Dr. Balwinder Kumar, thanked all the committee members, heads of various departments, scientists, representative officials, farmers and farm women for their participation in this meeting.
