Krishi Vigyan Kendra, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) distributed 900 chicks (free of cost) to 29 farmers along with free poultry 
feed. Dr. Randhir Singh, Assistant Professor (Livestock Production) KVK also organized Kisan Ghosti and field day for these poultry farmers where famers were made aware of various important aspects of successful poultry farming. He advised farmers about specific care and management of chicks till 15 days of age and also prescribed routine nutritional supplementation along with temperature and light requirements for chicks. Dr. Yashwant Singh, Deputy Director, KVK advised farmers, farm women and unemployed youth to take up poultry farming for employment nutritional security and as an additional source of income. He informed that the chicks are being supplied to KVK by Directorate of livestock farms, GADVASU, Ludhiana. These chicks are suitable for backyard poultry farming and having good potential for both meat and egg production. Dr. Vikas Phullia, Assistant Professor (Fisheries) was also assisted during the distribution.
