Board of Management, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana (GADVASU) gave nod to appoint three officers of the university. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Amarjit Singh Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of GADVASU. While revealing the information, Dr. Sushil Prabhakar, Registrar, GADVASU said that Board of Management has appointed Dr. JPS Gill as Director of Research, Dr. Parkash Singh Brar as Dean College of Veterinary Science and Dr. Satyavan Rampal as Director Student’s Welfare cum Estate Officer.
Dr. JPS Gill, presently working as Coordinator Research and Director School of Public Health and Zoonoses, is a renowned academician and a leading researcher for the last 26 yrs. He is also the Adjunct Professor at University of Saskatchewan. Dr Gill has vast research experience of managing 28 research projects as Principal Investigator (PI) & Co-PI and has successfully developed seven International Collaborations and Research Proposals with University of Saskatchewan, Canada; Canadian Food Inspection Agency; University of Sydney, Australia; Princeton University, USA; Royal Veterinary College London UK; Free University Berlin, Germany; London School of Tropical medicine and Hygiene UK.
Dr. Parkash Singh Brar presently Head, Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics has handled 16 research projects as principal investigator for various funding agencies including two from joint division of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Vienna, Austria. Travelled to more than 12 countries in different capacities, he has more than 200 publications to his credit.
Dr Satyavan Rampal, Professor, Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology has worked as Head, Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology from 2008-13. Dr Rampal has several national and international publications to his credit. He has successfully completed ten research projects as PI and Co-PI. He has also served the university as State Public Information Officer. He is a renowned scientist in the field of veterinary toxicology and was the Joint Secretary of the Society of Toxicology (STOX), India from 2007 to 2009.
Dr. SNS Randhawa, Director Research made a presentation in the Board held today meeting about the research activities, achievements, new technologies and future targets of the GADVASU. It was highly appreciated by members that university is doing commendable work for the cause farmers of the state and promote the livestock farming as a sustainable one. Contributions of the three members, of the Board of Management who are completing their term were also applauded in the meeting. University authorities extended gratitude for their services to uplift the standards of varsity.
In an important development Board also approved ESI and EPF facility to the Contract DPL’s of the institute. This facility is already operational w.e.f from 1 August 2016 to the employees.
Dr. Nanda congratulated the newly appointed officers and wished that they will strengthen the glorious legacy of the varsity. He also extended gratitude towards the Board Members for their effective and appreciable contribution.
