KVK, Barnala of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana has organized a one day Ex- trainees Sammelan. The Sammelan was inaugurated by Dr. H.K. Verma, Director of Extension Education, GADVASU, Ludhiana. Dr. Verma said that GADVASU and its KVK, Barnala conducting a number of activities for benefit of dairy and fisheries farmers. He also told that farmer can earn more income by adopting scientific management practices for their animals. Dr. Verma said that farmers may get buffalo bull of Murrah breed and buck of beetal goat at nominal rate for breed improvement from GADVASU, Ludhiana. He also intimated farmers that GADVASU is going to organize a state level Pashu Palan Mela on 22nd- 23rd September 2016 at University Campus at Ludhiana.
Dr. Prahalad Singh Tanwar, Associate Director, KVK, Barnala welcomed all the guests and farmers. He said that farmer can earn good profits by adopting integrated farming system and may utilize their resources judiciously. He told that small farmers can adopt backyard poultry farming for additional income for their household from egg and meat. Dr. Tanwar said that farmer may get day old chick on book value from GADVASU, Ludhiana. He also added that various inputs like Area specific mineral mixture, bypass fat, Uromin lick block, books and literature is available in KVK, Barnala. Dr. Tanwar said that KVK is multidisciplinary resource centre and farmers of Barnala district may contact to solve their problems related to Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Agriculture and Horticulture. Dr. Verma visited KVK farm and inspect the crops grown at KVK farm. Dr. Y. S. Jadoun, Assistant Professor (LPM), also discussed different issues with farmers.
