Veterinary Varsity always works for the welfare and betterment of its employees & workers. Dr. Sushil Prabhakar said these words in connection with ongoing strike of DPL & contractual workers of Varsity. He said that we have already initiated the work on implementation of Employees’ State insurance scheme (ESI) & Employees Provident Fund (EPF) facilities. The university has already issued contract orders to about 256 workers whose contracts have been renewed. The scheme will be applicable to these employees with effect from August 1, 2016. The new scheme will be available to all other remaining contract workers as and when they get new contract. He also informed that the persons under old contract terms can opt for renewed contracts with immediate effect. The university has received request of more than 70 contract workers who were not covered under this scheme earlier to add them in this scheme, because this scheme was initiated before the renewal of their contract.
Dr. Prabhakar said that some so called union leaders are making untruthful, erroneous and illusive statements in press about these facilities for workers. He said that these types of misleading statements are not good for the welfare cause of the workers.
