Dr. Shashi Kant Mahajan, Professor, Department of Veterinary Surgery & Radiology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary 
and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana was conferred “ICAR Best Teacher Award 2015-16”, in recognition of his commendable contributions to teaching research and extension in Veterinary Surgery & Radiology. Dr.Amarjit Singh Nanda,Vice-Chancellor honoured him with a plaque, certificate and cash prize of Rs. 10,000/-.Dr. Shashi Kant Mahajan joined as Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Surgery & Radiology on 31.05.1999 and has put in 17 years’ service in different capacities. Dr.Shashi Kant was actively involved in the academic activities of the students in the capacity as advisor to undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has guided 3 M.V.Sc. students and is currently supervising two M.V.Sc. and two Ph.D. students.
Dr. Shashi Kant is a Clinician par excellence and has been instrumental in the development of phaco-emulsification
and intraocular lens implantation for cataract surgery and grafting techniques for corneal ulcers in dogs. He has introduced the use of Total Intravenous Anesthesia and the use of General Anesthesia in large animals. He is the recipient of “Raman Post-Doctoral Fellowship” (Sponsored by UGC) in Veterinary Anesthesia at Purdue University (USA) under the guidance of Dr. Jeff Ko. He has published 80 research publications in national and international journals. Dr.Nanda said that this type of honour inculcates the spirit in faculty to Do Best,Do More and Do Incessantly . He encouraged the other colleagues to act on the same lines and develop a healthy competition among the teachers to perform excellently. He revealed that it will serve two way purpose, first excellent teaching to the students and on other hands better learning among students and above all a name and fame for the institution.
