The first round of counselling of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) was completed for three undergraduate courses i.e. Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (five years programme), Bachelor of Fisheries (four year programme) and B.Tech.-Dairy Tech. (four years programme) at Silver Jubilee Block Auditorium of the University. A total number of 2711 applications for admission to various undergraduate programmes were received this year, out of which 2532 students appeared for Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by this University on 19th June 2014. 61 seats of B.V.Sc & A.H, 8 of B.F.Sc and 25 of B.Tech. Dairy Tech. were filled in the first as informed by Dr. P.D. Juyal, Registrar, GADVASU. The University started B.F.Sc and B.Tech. (Dairy Tech.) courses in 2008 for first time in this region. A rush for admission to Veterinary, Dairy and Fisheries courses was seen due to the increased popularity of these courses. Most sought after course is veterinary followed by Dairy and Fisheries. Fisheries is developing in Punjab and Govt. is giving more emphasis on Dairy and Fisheries sector.
