Dr. O.S.Parmar contributed his services with full dedication, honesty & zeal. He is a visionary man who has deep knowledge and experience in many fields. For the establishment & development of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University his valuable services will be discussed forever. These views were expressed by Dr. A.S.Nanda Director of research at the farewell function of Dr.Parmar on his retirement.
Dr. O.S. Parmar who retired as Director of Extension Education & Dean College of Dairy Science & Technology, Joined Punjab Agricultural University as Dairy Manager in Year 1976.
He is trained and educated in both agriculture and animal Science and has vast experience of working at the university research farms and in the rural areas with he farmers. In his 34 Year long service he experienced teaching, research, extension, financial and personal management and liasion with the state, national and International organizations.
He extended his whole hearted efforts to set up new college of Dairy Science and technology at GADVASU. He served the college in the capacity of Dean.
He observed the hardships of farmers of Kandi Area of Punjab so he contributed a lot under the able guidance of Dr. V.K. Taneja Vice-Chancellor to establish Regional Research & Training Centre al Talwara. He supervised national agricultural innovation project entitled “Lvestock based farming system for poverty alleviation in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab “ which includes the technology interventions and input support for livestock, agriculture agro-foresty and value addition of agriculture and livestock products.
In his farewell address Dr.Parmar said that I gained through my education from very learned teachers, motivations and support to extend my heartful thanks for the support which helped me in making some contribution towards the society.Even after my retirement, I will continue to work for the rural areas particularly the most neglected Kandi area and will your guidance and support for this cause.
