Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized an awareness cum input distribution camp in the adopted village Hamidi under Farmer FIRST Project sponsored by ICAR. The activity was arranged under the guidance of Dr. P.S. Brar, Director of Extension Education and Nodal Officer of Farmer FIRST Project.
Dr Parminder Singh, Principal Investigator of the Project; delivered the expert lecture on trace minerals feeding to the dairy animals. He explained the role of trace minerals in enhancing milk production, improving reproductive performance, boosting immunity, improving growth and development, improving feed efficiency and prevention of deficiency disorders in dairy animals. He responded to all the queries of the farmers and motivated them to adopt the technology for better returns from dairy farming.
Dr. Parteek Singh Dhaliwal, Co-PI in the project spoke about winter management of the animals.He advised the farmers about regular vaccinations and deworming.
A demo on trace mineral feeding was also conducted in village Hamidi in which 25 dairy farmers participated and gained first-hand knowledge on the technology Molded plastic chairs were also distributed to the panchayats of Hamidi, Moom, Dhaner and Mehal Kalan, so as to facilitate the extension activities and camps in future.
