Faculty members and students from Department of Livestock Products Technology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, made a remarkable mark at the 12th Conference of the Indian Meat Science Association and National Symposium on “Green and Sustainable Meat Sector: Global Game Changer” organized by the Department of LPT at Uttar Pradesh Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Pashu Chikitsa Vigyan Vishwavidyalaya, Mathura (U.P.).
The department proudly secured five prestigious awards for exceptional research contributions across various sessions. Dr. Nitin Mehta and Dr. Pavan Kumar were awarded “Best Paper Presentation Awards” for their outstanding research on antimicrobial essential oil nanoemulsions and factors affecting fresh meat quality, respectively. Dr. Jeyapriya and Dr. Shilviya Bhat, both PhD scholars from the department, earned honors for best paper and poster presentations, respectively. Dr. Abhinandh K., M.V.Sc. scholar was honored for his innovative work on restructured meat products. Dr. Rajesh V. Wagh was also associated with the research work that garnered the awards. Dr. Nitin Mehta, delivered a lead paper on the encapsulation of essential oils for quality control of livestock products. He was also reappointed as Associate Editor of the Journal of Meat Science, a Scopus-indexed journal of IMSA. Furthermore, Dr. Pavan Kumar was elected as Joint Secretary of the Indian Meat Science Association indicating his significant achievements in this field. Dr. Yashpal Singh, HoD, praised the dedication and hard work of the faculty and students, lauding their significant contributions.
Dr. SPS Ghuman, Dean, College of Veterinary Science, commended the department's achievements, expressing that such prestigious scientific recognitions will undoubtedly inspire faculty members and students to work with diligence and passion. Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Uppal, Dean, Postgraduate Studies, emphasized that the university’s scientific community is working relentlessly for the advancement of the livestock sector in Punjab and India. Dr. Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, Vice Chancellor extended his heartfelt congratulations, underscoring the importance of value addition to livestock products as a transformative tool for enhancing farmers' incomes and fostering entrepreneurial development.
