Dr Satyavan Rampal, Director Students’ Welfare cum Estate Officer and Dr S K Kansal, Professor, Department of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension Education had superannuated from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana on 31st of October, 2023. Both the outgoing personalities shared their life experiences in an impressive function organised by Vet Varsity Teachers Association. Dr. APS Brar President along with their executive members organised the farewell show in a meticulous manner.
Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor praised both the senior faculty members from the core of his heart. He said that present stature of varsity is all due to the great and visionary efforts of these types of taskmasters.
Dr. Rampal was born on 23-10-1963 in a village of Amritsar district in an educated family. He did his schooling from Sainik School Kapurthala, inculcating discipline in his life. An alumnus of PAU, he joined College of Veterinary Science in 1981 and after graduation in Veterinary Science and Post-graduation in Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, he joined as Assistant Professor in 1989. During Student life, he was a good sportsman having excellence in Cricket and Athletics. He set a record in PAU for Javelin Throw. He served as Associate Professor, Professor and Head, Pharmacology and Toxicology department. He guided many MVSc and Ph D students. He shouldered the responsibility of DSW-Cum-EO from 2016 till superannuation.
Dr S K Kansal did his graduation in the field of veterinary sciences from PAU, Ludhiana in 1985 and post-graduation in Veterinary Pathology from HAU, Hisar in 1988. He joined PAU, Ludhiana in March, 1988 as Assistant Professor in the department of Veterinary Extension and Continuing Education. He pioneered a new extension model in the field of veterinary sciences with the introduction of Animal Welfare Camps, Awareness Camps, Trainings for livestock owners and adoption of villages for specific purposes, publication of technical literature etc. Dr Kansal completed his PhD in the year 1997. He played a pivotal role in the development of the curriculum of various PG courses. He headed the department from 2016 to 2020. During this period, he was actively engaged in the activities of important projects. On this occasion Deans, Directors, Heads of the Departments and a large number of faculty members of the University participated.
