Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University’s Directorate of Human Resource Management (HRMC) conducted First Faculty Induction Programme (FIP). Dr. L.D. Singla, Director Human Resource Management said that the objective of this 5 day programme of 20 sessions was to familiarize newly recruited Assistant Professors of the university with the basic knowledge of the organizational set up, rules and regulation of university. To guide them about classroom teaching, student psychology, academic modules of UG and PG teaching, research ethos including manuscript and research proposal writing, extension activities and Intellectual property rights and ethics of animal experimentation. 24 resource persons from university offices, departments and other institutes taught them.
Dr. H.S. Banga, Registrar, deliberated on university governance and administration. Dr. S.K. Uppal, Dean of Postgraduate Studies, guided the new faculty on thesis and dissertation writing skills. Dr. JPS Gill, Director of Research, encouraged the new faculty to prioritize research areas and develop expertise. Mr. Surinder Bansal alongwith his entire team provided inputs on University Budgeting, Purchase Procedures, and Ethical Compliance in Purchase. Dr. Opinder Singh, Controller of Examination, briefed the participants about the university examination system. Dr. Jaswant Singh, Professor from the University of Saskatchewan, conducted an online lecture-cum-interactive session on teaching skills and pedagogy techniques.
Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, presided over the valedictory session and emphasized the importance of the FIP in welcoming new faculty members, fostering a collaborative spirit, and nurturing a conducive learning environment. He motivated the participants to work hard to rise in their professional career. Participants expressed their appreciation for the program and acknowledged the efforts of the organizing team. Dr. Paramjit Kaur and Venus Bansal, the organizing secretary, were commended for their role in planning and executing the event successfully. Dr. L.D. Singla congratulated the organizing team for their efforts in planning and executing the program successfully.
