Two days international conference on ‘Recent Advances in Engineering Applications for Sustainable Dairying’ under the aegis of Indian Dairy Engineers Association (IDEA) concluded on October 14, 2023 at the College of Dairy Science and Technology (CODST), Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. The valedictory ceremony was graced by the Dr H S Banga, Registrar, Guru Angad Dev Veterinar
y and Animal Sciences University as chief guest, Dr P Sudhir Babu, Registrar, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University as Guest of Honour, Er. S.C. Aggarwal, President, IDEA and Er R K Chugh, Vice President, IDEA.
Dr. R.S. Sethi, Convener of this event and Dean, CODST welcomed all the dignitaries and participants. He mentioned that the knowledge gained by the participants during this conference will help them to resolve issues in their respective fields as well as to uplift the dairy industry.
Dr. Amandeep Sharma, Organizing Secretary mentioned that during the conference, scientists deliberated on various topics including novel bio-based interventions to enhance food quality and functionality, engineering for sustainable dairy, cold chain management, and robotics, artificial intelligence in dairy industry. Dr. Sharma presented the scientific report and recommendations.
Dr P Sudhir Babu emphasized that the conferences are one of the channels which makes the research visible to others and one can make best use of these for scientific interactions. As upcoming IDEA Conference will be organized in his institute at Kerala, he extended warm welcome for the same. Further, he provided the snapshot of dairy industry and dairy supply chain in Kerala.
Dr. Banga, Chief Guest of the function, congratulated the organizing team for the successful conclusion of the event, and highlighted that the students and faculty of the University has been visiting various countries and institutes across the globe for training, which will be very useful for upliftment of dairy industry. He emphasized the milk products are in great demand and need to be focused upon. Augmenting animal productivity, optimizing dairy supply chains, enhancing processing capabilities and strengthening socio-economic factors are few niche areas to be taken into consideration for overall development of dairy sector.
Er. S C Aggarwal delivered the concluding remarks and the formal vote of thanks was posed by Dr. Amandeep Sharma. During the valedictory function, awards were presented to the scientists and students for their outstanding research and presentation during the different events of the conference.
