Vet Varsity organizes an interactive session on Skill Development

Placement Cell, College of Veterinary Science in collaboration with Department of Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University successfully organized an interactive talk on Skill Development in which more than 200 students/ faculty members participated. Dr. Sandeep Singh Kaura, Adviser to National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India and Adviser to the Chief Minister, Government of Punjab (Skill Development & Technical Education) delivered an expert lecture. Dr. Randhir Singh, welcomed the august gathering. Dr. Swaran Singh Randhawa, Director of clinics introduced the guest speaker. Dr. Kaura revealed that India has a potential opportunity to address the demand of over 37 lakhs skilled workforce over the next 5 years across 16 countries. He informed about signing first of its kind in World, a tripartite MOU between Punjab Skill Development Mission, AIIMS Bathinda and Punjab Ghar Ghar Rozgar and Karobar Mission (PGRKM) to set up centre of excellence in Health sectors at AIIMS Bathinda. He informed that the Govt of Punjab has set up First of its kind in India a “Foreign Study and Employment Cell” to facilitate the migration of youth of Punjab by setting up Overseas Skill Development. A MOU in this regard has been signed with Province of Alberta Canada and with UK Govt through British Dy High Commission.
Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, informed about the various skill related short courses started by the University and also stressed on the need of having more collaboration with various national and international institutes/ industries for preparing our students with essential skills at par with international standards for a brighter future. He further said that holding such types of talks is a testament to our commitment to fostering personal and professional growth among our students. Dr. Kaura also addressed the questions and concerns of the audience, and offered practical advice on skill development.
