More than 150 volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University
participated in an interaction with Brig. Kuljit Singh from Heartfulness Education Trust. The District administration of Ludhiana had declared November as the Drug Prevention month, so an interaction on ‘Drug Prevention and Treatment’ was conducted at College of Animal Biotechnology. The volunteers were exposed to a blend of activities that included teaching and practising of meditation, Pranayam and a brief lecture on varied topics related to h
ealthy lifestyle, heartfulness and stress management.
During this session, Brig. Singh encouraged students to focus on the present and not think about past and future. He was accompanied by educationists, Sr. Neera, Sr. Shubhdeep, Sr. Meenakshi and Sr. Raj from the Trust. By introducing guided meditation, Brig. Singh equipped students to master their heart and eventually excel both academically and in personal life.
Sr. Neera presented two books on Simple Heartfulness Practices to Dr.
Nidhi Sharma, NSS Programme Coordinator, to be kept in the University Library. While acknowledging, Dr. Nidhi Sharma said that, “the young volunteers were introduced to some breathing techniques and practical tips for calm and stable mind through guided meditation.”
Dr. Sanjeev Uppal, Dean Post Graduate Studies, encouraged students to have a stress free living by including breathing exercises as a part of their lifestyle.
Dr. C.S. Mukhopadhyay, Dr. S. Sivakumar and Dr. Sachin Onkar Khairnar, NSS Program Officers of College of Animal Biotechnology, College of Dairy Science and Technology and College of Fisheries respectively also participated in the interaction along with students from their colleges
