Vet Varsity Organizes International Conference on Immunology and Biotechnology

College of Animal Biotechnology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized an International Conference and XXVI Annual convention of Indian Society of Veterinary Immunology & Biotechnology (ISVIB) in virtual mode on “Transforming Livestock Economy through Innovations in Immunology and Biotechnology” . Dr Yashpal Singh Malik, Organizing Secretary and Dean College said that ISVIB is the premier conglomerate organization of more than 500 Veterinary and Animal Scientists from the disciplines related to Animal Health & Production. The ISVIB was started in the year 1990.
Dr Rameshwar Singh, founder Vice Chancellor of Bihar Animal Sciences University, Patna inaugurated the conference along with Dr Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, GADVASU, Dr Baljit Singh, Vice President (Research), University of Saskatchewan, Canada, Padma Shri Dr Omesh Bharti, State Epidemiologist, Himachal Pradesh, Dr Quaza Nizamuddin Hasan Nizam, President, Federation of Asian Veterinary Associations and Dr RK Singh, President of the ISVIB. On this occasion, ISVIB bestowed society fellowships to Dr. Madhusudan Hosamani, Dr. Abhijit Mitra, Dr. Praveen Malik, Animal Husbandry Commissioner, Government of India, Dr. Sachinandan De, Dr. S Manoharan, and Dr. S K Singh. Dr RS Sethi, Co-Organizing Secretary and Professor cum Head, Animal Biotechnology, GADVASU extended the vote of thanks.

Dr Malik elaborated that more than 100 participants registered for the conference. The event witnessed 35 guest speakers including 30 National and 5 international speakers. The conference was organized in six technical sessions like Emerging / Re-emerging Animal Infections & Zoonoses, Pathogen Detection and Pathogenomics, Innovations in Immunoprophylactics and Therapeutics, Antimicrobials and Antimicrobial Resistance, Food Safety and Trade and Genomics in Animal Production and Big Data Analysis.
Dr H Rahman, Regional Representative for South Asia ILRI was the Chief Guest of valedictory function along with Dr Rafael Laguens, President, World Veterinary Association (WVA), Belgium, Dr KS Sandhu, Dr KS Palaniswami, Vice President ISVIB, Chennai. Dr A Thangavelu, Secretary, ISVIB declared awards of the society. Symposium concluded with recommendations to focus on emerging infectious diseases having zoonotic linkages through strengthening of One-Health concept, enhance multi-institutional collaborations, developing molecular assays to detect food associated pathogens. Dr Inderjeet Singh congratulated the entire team for successfully organizing the events. Dr Deepti Narang, Co-organizing Secretary presented the vote of thanks.
